Worker Injured on Cronulla Construction Site

An accident on a construction site in Sydney’s south left a worker trapped in a 15 metre pit after a load of construction material was dropped on him.

The incident occurred at a building site on Gerrale street in Cronulla around 12 noon when the load about 1.6 tonnes of steel reinforcement mesh was being lifted and fell onto the man.

The 38 year old worker was stabilised on the scene by six paramedics and a doctor who kept him calm and stable throughout the ordeal.

The man was taken to St  George Hospital for further treatment.

It is believed the man suffered leg injuries as a result of the incident.
