Worker Fighting for Life after Gold Coast Construction Mishap

Paramedics were called to a construction site in Surfer’s Paradise on the Gold Coast recently when a construction worker was crushed in an elevator shaft.

The young worker, believed to be in his twenties, was working on the Jewel Towers construction site on Old Burleigh Road when the accident occurred.

Reports say the man was working in an elevator shaft when a lift moved and pulled him into equipment. He sustained chest, back and abdomen injuries and was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.

WorkSafe said this incident serves as a “timely reminder for everyone to be aware of their surroundings” given the dangerous nature of construction work.
