Following an incident in June 2016 when a worker was crushed under a dump truck, an earthmoving company was fined $90,000.

The man was crushed underneath the body of the dump truck while trying to repair it.

The 26 year old was described as an experienced repairer but the company was found to have failed to maintain a safe working environment for it’s employees.

SafeWork said the dump truck carrying 30 tonnes of soil, lowered onto the man, causing injury to his back and hands.

The dump truck body was not locked properly causing it to lower down and crush the victim in this ‘avoidable’ incident.
