A construction worker was recently killed when a steel beam being lifted fell and crushed him.
The man, aged in his thirties was working on a barge near Sydney’s Darling Harbour.
When police and emergency services arrived on the scene, the man was already dead.
CFMEU NSW Secretary Brian Parker said the man’s torso was crushed and he died instantly.
He also said that this incident could have been prevented.
When heavy lifting is being carried out, nobody is supposed to be in the vicinity of the area.
A WorkSafe NSW investigation will be carried out.
