Women Benefiting from construction boom

A recent post on DailyTelegraph.com.au highlighted how women should “cash in” on the booming construction industry in NSW.

Women are being encouraged by the Vocational and Educational Training (VET) sector to take advantage of opportunities in construction, and not get worried about being “pushed out” by their male counterparts.

Women hold a mere 11 per cent of construction jobs, according to statistics from the the Australian Bureau of Statistics and companies like LendLease are urging women to pursue careers in this rewarding industry and change that.

Lendlease Engineering and Services CEO Craig Laslett said women could do any job in construction if they had the “capability and the right attitude”.

These sentiments were echoed by Deputy Premier John Barilaro, who said now is the best time for women to work in construction, particularly considering the infrastructure boom currently underway in the state.
