Hearing Awareness Week just ended, having run from 23 August to 29 August, so its time to consider what we’ve learnt.
Figures reveal that 1 in six Australians is deaf, hearing impaired or has an ear disorder and one of the most common reasons for these hearing problems is loud noises, such as those construction workers can be exposed to on a work site.
Noise-induced hearing loss is preventable and should not be taken lightly. Over a short or long period of time, even exposure to moderate noise levels can cause permanent damage.
Our hearing is important to us and hearing loss cannot be reversed, so make sure you protect yours.
