A new study by researchers from the University of Otago revealed that age plays a role in the likelihood of work-related injuries.
The researchers studied the incidence, nature and cause of work related injuries in more mature New Zealanders and it became evident that injuries increased with the age of workers.
More than 1 in 5 accepted injury claims for traumatic work injuries were made by workers between 55 and 79 years old between 2009-2013.
Workers between the ages of 70-79 had the highest rate of work injury claims and 55-79 year olds had the highest percentage of fatal injury.
Male workers had the highest overall claim rates. Source: http://content.safetyculture.com.au/news/index.php/11/work-related-injuries-among-older-workers-set-increase-study-says/#.Wib2QDe1vIV
