Victoria’s Record Low Injury Rate

WorkSafe Victoria has released figures which shows the number of workplace deaths and injuries in the state have dropped to an all time low.

The efforts of employers, workers and WorkSafe inspectors has resulted in lower workplace injury and death rates across the state.

Annual figures released by the regulator indicated that the rate of workplace injuries per million hours has declined from 6.95 claims to 6.43 claims in the 2015/16 financial year.

One area where we need to see improvement is mental health. WorkSafe Victoria said the rate of mental health problems has increased across the Victorian community. This is significant given that mental health affects health, safety and productivity on work sites.
