Twenty Victorian Workers Injured Weekly in Falls

WorkSafe Victoria has urged people to be more aware about work from height safety following a fatal ladder fall at a Melbourne building site.

A 53 year old recently lost his life after falling 4.3 metres from a ladder on a the site. He fell from the mezzanine floor to the ground floor.

The work cover authority has revealed that approximately 20 people are injured every week in Victorian workplaces from falls.

Construction employers are reminded that whenever there is a risk of workers falling more than 2 metres, they must outline in writing how they are managing the risk.

WorkSafe also reminded employers and workers that even falls from low heights can be serious, therefore we can never leave safety to chance.
