There’s a new development out of Sweden’s Royal Institute of Technology which is providing a more efficient alternative to traditional windows and its made from wood.
Transparent wood has been proven to outperform traditional glass windows in a number of areas when tested and can be mass produced.
While providing a more energy efficient option to glass windows, transparent wood also allows a soft, more uniform light.
The transparent wood was created by extracting the lignin from natural wood, which makes it white. Then a polymer was added to the white veneer substrate to increase it’s optical transparency. It is also more resistant to shattering than regular glass.Find out more https://sourceable.net/why-transparent-wood-surpasses-traditional-glass/
