Students Try Their Hand At Construction Trades

Young people with an interest in the construction industry are getting hands-on experience on one of the biggest redevelopment projects in Brisbane.

The young people from 9 Brisbane schools are learning what it takes to work on a construction site as part of a program hosted by developer Lendlease, Construction Skills Queensland and Worldskills.

According to Construction Skills Queensland, the demand for construction industry apprentices has risen 54 per cent over the last decade and the trend is increasing.

If you’re looking to get started in the construction industry, remember you will need a White Card for Queensland first. This will involve completing the “Work Safely in the Construction Industry” course and obtaining a nationally recognised White Card as proof of completion. For more click here.
