Shedding Light on Asbestos Issues

Asbestos Awareness Week may have come and gone (19-25 November) but the message to focus on the dangers associated with asbestos lives on.

Speaking during the campaign, Minister for Industrial Relations Grace Grace said Asbestos Awareness Week was a chance to raise the concerns about the risks of working with asbestos.

Speaking at a trades training centre she said the next generation working on renovations should be aware of the risks involved and what to do if they are on the job and suspect the presence of asbestos.

She highlighted that mesothelioma and asbestosis are incurable, as is lung cancer and there are many other conditions that can be contracted by exposure to asbestos.
