Rethink Safety Amid Heatwave Warnings

The ACT has been experiencing intense high temperatures over the past few weeks and Work Safety Commissioner, Greg Jones is reminding companies and employees to rethink safety amid these rising temperatures.

Workers on construction sites are at a heightened risk of heat stress and exhaustion and should be particularly cautious.

Employers are being urged to think of ways to limit their employees’ exposure to the heat and employees are urged to stay safe.

They are also being reminded to help monitor their co-workers.

The heat is not just unpleasant, it is dangerous and we need to be prepared. Staying hydrated, wearing the proper sun safety and protective clothing and limiting exposure are crucial to remaining safe.
