The NSW Government in partnership with the Black Dog Institute has launched a program to offer mental health skills training to regionally based workers.

Regional workers were identified as “at risk” when it comes to mental illness and high rates of suicide are prevalent amongst these workers.

According to Better Regulation Minister Matt Kean, the training to employees and owner-operators from small to medium-sized businesses would help build strategies and teach them to effectively manage mental health in their workplaces.

The initial phase of the program which was completed in November targeted 5000 workers who completed face to face and e-module training.
