Non-conforming building products Addressed

It’s become obvious that non-conforming building products are a major problem for the building industry and now the Queensland Government is taking action with the introduction of a bill that places conformance obligations on all supply chain participants, whereas in the past too much responsibility was placed on building certifiers at the point of installation.

The move has come after a 2013 report from the Australian Industry Group (AIG) which highlighted the issue and revealed the concerns.

The Steering Committee of the Construction Product Alliance (CPA) has welcomed the Bill having stressed in the past the need for governments to address the gaps in the administrative and regulatory systems which are allowing these non-conforming products to enter the market.
