A civil construction company has been charged over alleged failure to protect the health and safety of a worker who was crushed to death by a road roller in Mildura in October 2017.

The 58 year old man was helping load the roller onto a tray truck in a depot at the time of the incident.

The company is alleged to have failed to provide a safety procedure or system including a safety exclusion zone, for the loading and unloading of machines and equipment on and off trailers for transport.

It is also alleged that the company’s failure to provide information, instruction and training for such a system was a breach.
