Master Builders Calls for More Apprentices in Tasmania

With Tasmanian builders warning of a shortage of skilled workers, The Master Builders Association  (MBA) has called upon the state government to take action.

The MBA said a number of major construction projects have been planned for next year and before they can begin, more skilled workers will need to be brought in to fill the skills gap.

The association said at least 100 apprentices would be needed.

Although the industry in the state has been declining steadily since 2011, many builders have now gained the confidence to take on new apprentices to train.
