Man Hit in The Head by Steel Covering

A workplace accident has occurred at a construction site in Springfield Lakes on Grande Avenue causing one man to be airlifted to hospital with serious head injuries.

The man was hit by a steel cover at the work site last Monday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the scene, where paramedics found the man unconscious.

The worker was doing maintenance on a wood chipper when the incident occurred. Another worker was using an excavator and lifting straps to help remove a steel cover from the wood chipper when it came loose.

It is believed that the force of the excavator caused the cover to fly up and hit the man on the head, while he was standing on top of the wood chipper .
