Preying upon people looking for work in the construction industry, a Sydney man is now facing fraud charges for fraudulently selling white cards.
The 37 year old man from Sydney has sold some 400 white cards to his clients, marketing his illegal activities through word of mouth.
The man charged clients $150 to obtain a white card from a registered training organisation in Queensland after he completed the online examinations on behalf of the client.
A joint operation between NSW Police and Australian Federal Police (AFP) resulted in the recovery of white cards, computers, mobile phones, cash and documents relating to training in the construction industry at the man’s house and office.
This incident is reminder of why our safety protocols are so important. They include:
- We require completed declaration form and certified copy of student’s ID before issuing a white card
- We have the option of webcam assessment for lost white card purchases
- There is a verbal assessment portion to our course which is mandatory and is completed over the telephone
- Our system switches up the questions, so random questions means you actually have to know the material to pass the course.
