A recent article on News.com.au highlighted the soaring pay of women in the Australian construction industry.
According to reports, female construction workers are benefiting from the boom in construction with pay packets over a hundred thousand dollars.
Despite the financial rewards, it is noted that women face a lot of hostility in the industry, not only from colleagues but female traffic controllers report being verbally abused by motorists and pedestrians.
The pay varies for female construction workers, depending on level of expertise and type of work but some women are making up to $130,000, with hourly rates as high as $42.25. Many positions also include large travel allowances.
If you’re a female considering getting in to the industry, even if only for a holiday job, you too can reap the financial benefits but only if you get a White Card first. Find out more about this mandatory construction industry accreditation here.
