As we are all aware, Construction Induction training is mandatory for all construction workers in all states and territories and this is to ensure everyone working on a high risk work site are aware of how to do so safely. Despite the obvious need for this induction training, there may hundreds of people working illegally on building sites using dodgy construction induction cards, having not even completed the training themselves.
Police fear hundreds of workers with limited English skills are working on building sites after paying a Sydney man to complete the induction training for them.
This induction training also known as White Card training teaches those embarking on construction jobs the hazards, risks and controls associated with construction work so not completing this training and stepping onto a construction site to work is putting everyone there at risk.
Kelvin Fong, a 37 year old man from Sydney is facing a minimum of 6 months in prison for procuring as many as 400 construction induction cards for unqualified workers. He will be eligible for parole on September 15.
