According to recruitment firm Hays, skilled Australian construction professionals are in record high demand, due to the soaring levels of building activity currently underway throughout the country.
The latest report from Hays says there are worker shortages in various areas, with the construction sector adding over 100,000 workers over the past 12 months.
In September figures from ABS showed that 1.168 million people were employed in the construction sector.
Hays’ report did highlight that activity varies based on location however overall, the construction industry remains a strong economic driver.
The report says the skills jobseekers possess and those in demand by employers are mismatched and this gap has increased over the year. In other words there is a shortage of suitable skills across the industry.
It is more difficult to secure the right talent now than it was a year ago. In general project managers, construction managers and contract administrators are in the highest demand. See more at https://sourceable.net/australian-construction-workers-in-massive-demand/
