EnergySafe issued a reminder about the hazards of working in roof spaces.

Whether you’re on the work site or at home doing D-I-Y improvements, it’s important to understand how to avoid the risks associated with roof spaces.

Director of Energy Safety, Ken Bowron said it’s important to first switch off the electricity main switch in the property’s main switchboard.

Mr Bowron suggested using LED headlamps to light the roof space to allow you to move around and work safely, and to avoid stepping on electrical cables and junction boxes.

He also reminded everyone that D-I-Y electrical work is illegal and electrical work must be conducted by a licensed electrical contractor.
